The 2025 NAIFA-Ohio Legislative Reception was held on May 6th at the Athletic Club of Columbus and by many accounts was the best we've hosted in some time! NAIFA-Ohio Members and guests gathered to host lawmakers throughout the reception to get to know one another and share insight into our profession.
We started our evening with an opportunity for members to meet and/or reconnect before hearing from NAIFA-Ohio President Brett Ketvertis, CLU, ChFC who took some time to welcome our NAIFA Members and thanked our generous sponsors for helping to make our event possible; including Principal (Gold), SFG Brokerage - MassMutual Partner (Bronze), and Classic Insurance (Legislative Reception Supporter). He then introduce NAIFA-Ohio's state lobbyist, Dan Dodd, who provided an quick update, shared current issues and explained that NAIFA Members are the experts in their field, we have examples and stories lawmakers want to hear.
At 5pm, it was time for lawmakers to begin arriving, over the next two+ hours we'd be visited by dozens of them who wanted to meet with and hear from our members. Insurance Chairman and NAIFA Member Brian Lampton (R - House District 70) stopped by early and remained for much of the reception, taking an opportunity to say Thank You to NAIFA members for hosting the reception, his fellow lawmakers for spending time meeting our members and challenged NAIFA members to consider running in their district to ensure there's an Insurance/Financial Services presence in the State House.
We were pleased to have been well represented by both major parties throughout the evening and the incredible turnout of our members, many of whom stayed well beyond our scheduled end time in order to continue conversations with lawmakers. By all accounts, we had a terrific night and hope you'll join us in 2026 to make next year's reception an even better experience!
