Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel recently signed a Proclamation declaring September as Life Insurance Awareness Month.
The purpose of Life Insurance Awareness Month, an initiative of NAIFA and the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), is to highlight the importance of life insurance and how it provides financial security to consumers when faced with unexpected losses. Another goal of the initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of access to affordable financial protection products.
The Governor’s support of, and the signing of the Proclamation, boost the visibility of Life Insurance Awareness Month, giving voice to this vital industry bolstered by the insurance and financial advisor members of NAIFA. In Ohio, it's big business as there are 456 life insurers licensed to do business in Ohio, which generates approximately 89,900 jobs.
The Proclamation reminds Ohioans of the importance of life insurance and how it provides financial security when faced with unexpected losses. It's worth noting, life insurers paid out $4.59 Billion in life insurance benefits to Ohio families in 2024 alone.
NAIFA created the concept several years ago, that September be declared Life Insurance Awareness Month in all 50 states with state and local NAIFA chapters spearheading the effort in their respective local communities and states.
