Recovery Within Reach Program

Financial Advisers are sometimes the first to see the financial red flags associated with addition, yet they might not feel comfortable talking with their clients about such a serious, personal issue.

The Division of Securities, which is part of the Ohio Department of Commerce, is hoping to change that mindset with a new statewide campaign. Recovery Within Reach, which launched in August of 2022, gives financial advisers the resources they need to help families identify the financial signs of addiction and navigate the costs of treatment. in other words, the campaign empowers financial advisers to have important conversations with their clients who are dealing with the financial consequences of addiction.

Earlier this year, the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Securities launched a first-of-its-kind training on the financial impact of addiction: The Ohio Financial Professional's Guide to Servicing Clients and Families Dealing with Substance Use Disorder. This free and easy-to-access continuing education course is composed of three short, yet very informative modules.

This month, the Department shared upcoming free in-person opportunities to receive this training in the following cities: Columbus on Friday, June 30th; Cleveland on Friday, July 14th; Toledo on Thursday, August 10th; and Cincinnati on Wednesday, September 27th! All four dates will run from 8am to noon. Breakfast and light refreshments will be served for onsite attendees.
